3 dog breeds responsible for 70 percent of bites

Residents of Illinois may be interested in a new study looking into which dog breeds are responsible for the most bites. The study published by Merritt Clifton found that 70 percent of dog bites came from three dog breeds and their mixes. The dog breeds that have been found to bite the most are Rottweilers, Presa Canarios and Pit Bulls.

Pit bulls thought to be responsible for many dog attacks

Many Illinois residents have probably heard about the potential dangers of owning or even simply being around pit bulls. When in the wrong hands, this breed of dog is known to be involved in numerous dog bite incidents across the nation. What many people may not realize is just how damaging these dog attacks can be. Common injuries can include skull fractures, hip fractures and severe scarring.

Police kill pit bull returning for second attack

A 56-year-old woman and her mini-Doberman pinscher both suffered injuries on June 26 during an attack from a pit bull in a Chicago suburb. This marked the second report in the Chicago area that week in which a pit bull attacked a dog and its owner. Just two days earlier, a Yorkshire terrier was killed and its owner was injured by two pit bulls.

Woman sues Illinois couple for alleged dog bite

A woman has filed a lawsuit against two dog owners, claiming that their dog bit her. The filing was made in Cook County Circuit Court on May 22 and says that the owners violated the Animal Control Act. The woman is seeking compensation for damages incurred.
