Chicago dog attack injures mother and 2-year-old daughter

They say nothing is stronger than a mother's love, and maternal instincts take over when children are in danger. Dog bites and attacks by pit bulls are common throughout the country, and can easily occur in a big city like Chicago. One unusual case took place in a state to the south of the Illinois when a quiet afternoon turned dangerous during a routine dog-sitting event.

A young mother was watching a neighbor's pit bull, and all was going well until the animal was introduced to her toddler. The dog suddenly turned nervous and for unknown reasons, lunged for the little one. Mom did not hesitate when the dog turned on her 2-year-old. She did all she could, using her fists and even going so far as to bite off the pit bull's ear. According to reports, she thought the pit might have smelled her own dog's scent on her.

Both have been released from hospital. According to reports, they are making very good progress, and the little girl's stitches have been removed. Both mother and daughter seem to have a positive outlook.

The mom is back to work and happy to hold her little girl again. She is a fighter and so is her mother. She is doing great, according to her mother, who is still an avid dog lover. Although many dog bites in Illinois are caused by pit bulls, any dog is capable of attack.

This little girl was fortunate and escaped with just faint bite marks up her arms, but not all people are this fortunate. Dog bites can be devastating and result in life-long deformities and psychological consequences. Any dog bite needs immediate treatment. If you or someone you know has been involved in a dog attack in Illinois, you owe it to yourself to speak with a experienced professional who can advise you of your legal rights for seeking compensation for your injuries and losses.
